Experience the Beauty of Southern Oregon

One of the best ways to acquaint yourself with the wonders of Southern Oregon is on horseback. The trails will take you through meadows filled with wildflowers, alongside clear mountain lakes, and among majestic pine and fir trees. Around you, wildlife abounds. You will fall in love with the Pacific Crest Trail which overlooks the Rogue Valley.

If you prefer to fish, you will be led by guides especially selected because of their knowledge of the rivers and the passion they have for the land that "perfect catch." Fish the Rogue River, known for its year-round Salmon and Steelhead fishing. Just as the seasons show explosive changes throughout the year, the type of fish changes throughout the year as well. You must be a devout fisherman to fish during the winter when the Winter Steelhead appears some time in November.

As you continue your journey, plan to experience the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, which stretches over 300 miles. Allow yourself 10-12 hours for this scenic tour. Begin your tour at the Astoria-Negler Bridge, where you will be impressed by the open expanse of the Columbia River.

You'll see the Lewis and Clark Trail lined with gleaming beaches and rain forests. As you approach the southern part of the Byway, you will see a change in terrain. From here, you will see cliffs, farms, and sandy beaches. Be sure to have your camera along as these are some of the most photographed areas in Oregon.

Before you end your journey, be sure to visit the town of Astoria, one of the earliest towns in Oregon. Astoria is known for its Victorian architecture, steep streets, and an awesome view of the Columbia River.
